Lassen Grizzly Boys Soccer Team Edges Yreka
After Tuesday’s (1/20) 2-2 tie with Yreka, Lassen High head soccer coach, Dennis Michaels was not happy. “It was not a pretty match.’ Said Michaels following the contest. Thursday, (1/22), at Yreka, Michaels was much happier following Lassen’s 3-2 victory over the same Yreka Miners. “Much, much, much better.” Said the Grizzlies head coach.
The Grizzlies got two goals from sophomore, Jordan Guess and a third goal from Juan Castrejano in the teams 3-2 victory over Yreka. “Even if it had been a loss,” said Michaels, “it was a far better played game.” The win pushes Lassen’s NAL record to 3-2-1. Adrian Orozco and Gabriel Galvez were credited with assists for the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies next face Corning High School at Riverside Park, Tuesday, Jan. 23rd. The Cardinals are undefeated on the year and beat Lassen 4-1 earlier this season. ” It’s a grudge match, for fun,” said Michaels, “and that’s the best kind of match.”
