Lassen College Cougar Baseball Team Drops Season Opener
The Lassen College Cougar baseball team opened the 2009 college baseball season with a hard-fought 16-8 loss to American River College in Sacramento, Thursday, (2/05).
“We played really, really hard.” Said Cougar head coach Cort Cortez. “We gave up a seven spot in the seventh inning, and that kind of killed us.” Keep in mind the Cougars have not been on a field or had the opportunity to face live pitching since the fall. “I’m actually, pretty excited,” said Cortez,”they’re buying into what we’ve been teaching them and they hustled their butts off today.”
Lassen will be back on the diamond, Friday, Feb. 6th, at Sierra College in Rocklin, Ca. First pitch is set for noon.
