Lady Grizzlies Avenge Early Season Loss to West Valley
The Lassen High Lady Grizzly basketball team pulled away from visiting West Valley, Thursday night, (2/12) to earn a 47-43 victory over the Eagles.
Lassen and West Valley were tied 24-24 at half time. The Lady Grizzlies trailed by a point, 36-35, heading into the fourth quarter, but the Lassen ladies tightened up the defense in the final quarter and outscored West Valley 12-7 to pick up a much needed conference win.
Carlotta Kloppenburg led the way for Lassen with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Taylor Waddell chipped in nine points in the Lassen win. The win gives Lassen a 2-6 record in the NAL and avenges a loss to West Valley back on Jan. 22nd. In that Lassen loss (at West Valley), Lassen was out shot from the free throw line, 52-10, (62-20 total), after they had built a 20 point first half lead. That number may have had something to do with the West Valley comeback victory.
The Lady Grizzlies will close out the regular season with games at Anderson, Feb. 17th. and at Central Valley, Feb. 20th. There is a very good possibility that Lassen and West Valley could open the playoffs against each other. Wouldn’t that be fun.
West Valley won both, the Freshman and JV games.
NOTE: Following the game, the West Valley head coach could be heard blaming the officials for his teams loss… HUH ?!
