Lassen Cougar Basketball Team Dismisses Two Starters
Lassen College head basketball coach, Ben Riley, dismissed starters Darius Stewart and Omarri Williams from the team for “violations of team policy.”
The two Cougar starters will not be eligible to play in Lassen’s final two games of the regular season, or the playoffs, should the Cougars make it that far. Stewart and Williams, walked off the court in the second half of Lassen’s 12 point road loss to Butte College, Wednesday night, (2/11).
NOTE: I’da left ‘em in Oroville…(spell-check didn’t like that at all).
Lassen plays it’s final home game of the season, Saturday, Feb. 14th against the Shasta College Knights, (7:30 p.m.). The Cougars close out the regular season, the following Saturday, Feb. 21st at College of the Redwoods. Lassen must win both games to have an outside chance at making the playoffs for a second straight year.
Prior to the Lassen men’s game, the Lady Cougars will battle Shasta College, with first place in the Golden Valley Conference at stake. Currently, Shasta is 7-1 in GVC play while the Lassen ladies are 6-2. One of Lassen’s two conference losses came at the hands of Shasta, (1/24) in Redding. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Lassen Sports Complex.
