Monday Morning Weekend Update

Lots of local baseball and softball, Saturday, (3/21) and for better or worse (weather-wise), most of it was played here in Susanville. Here are the reports from a cold blustery day in the ‘ville. 

Lassen High Varsity Softball Tournament
(3/21) at Riverside Park

Game 1

Lassen – 6
Fernley – 5
Lassen’s Kylie Polan hit a home run. Natalie Yonan was 2 x 2.

Game 2
(3/21) at Riverside Park (Tournament Semi-final)

Chico – 5
Lassen – 3
Polan had three hits to lead the Grizzlies.
Lassen’s Jennifer Williams and Ashley Novasad were both selected to the All-Tournament team. Lassen wraps up the tournament with a season record of 6-4-2. The Grizzlies travel to Sparks (Nv.) High School for a doubleheader, Tuesday, March 24.
NOTE: We’ve got to come up with a better name for the tournament before next years event.

The Lady Cougars snapped a seven game losing skid with their Golden Valley Conference sweep of College of the Redwoods. Lassen is next scheduled to play at Feather River College, Wednesday, March 25th.

(3/21) at Memorial Park in Susanville, Ca.

Game 1

Feather River – 21
Lassen – 5
Feather River jumped on top of the Cougars early, leading 14-0 after three innings. Feather River catcher Josh Daniel was 3 x 3 with four RBI. Lassen speedster, Johnny Love Jr. was 1 x 2 with a pair of runs driven in. 

Game 2

Feather River – 17
Lassen – 6
The Cougars led 5-3 after five innings but were outscored 14-1 the rest of the way. Lassens’ Daveron Ross was 3 x 5 with an RBI. Feather River shortstop Daniel Black was 3 x 5 with three RBI. Niko Salidas drove in five Feather River runs.
Lassen is now 5-9 overall, (5-7 in the Golden Valley Conference.) Feather River improves to 22-2 (11-0).
Lassen will host Shasta College, Wednesday, March 25th, at Memorial Park. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Feather River travels to Butte College the same day.

(3/21) at Bishop Manogue High School (Reno, Nv.)

Game 1

Bishop Manogue – 15
Lassen – 5
Lassen’s Brian Barnes had two RBI.

Game 2

Bishop Manogue – 12
Lassen – 2
Andy Pustejovski
was 2 x 3 with a run driven in for the Grizzlies.
Lassen is now 2-5 for the season. 1-0 in Northern Athletic League play.
The Grizzlies resume NAL play, Tuesday, March 24th, at Corning High School.
