Herlong Ladies Win Gerlach Tournament

Story Submitted

The Herlong High Lady Viking basketball team competed in tournament action this weekend (12/11-12).
Friday’s Game
Herlong – 27
Sierra Lutheran -26
Saturday’s Game
Herlong – 44
Gerlach – 17
The first game of the Tourney was a nail biter as you can see. Sierra Lutheran brought an intense man defense that was relentless all night. Sierra Lutheran had the ball with 10 seconds left and they were in the bonus, so we couldn’t afford a foul. Rachel Bania anticipated a pass with a game saving steal as time ran out.
In the Championship game it was all Herlong as the girls beat Gerlach 44 to 17 to take the first place trophy at the Gerlach Invitational.
Tina Berry was named MVP with 24 pts and 13 assists and Angelique (Pooh) Owen was selected to the All-Tourney team, she had 24 pts and 15 rebounds.
Other notables were Rachael Silva with 12 steals and 11 pts in the tourney. Rayann Harryman also had 12 rebounds and played relentless defense.

Todays song in our “25 Days of Christmas” celebration is for the ladies, although, as has already been stated, it’s one of my all-time favorite Christmas songs. Trust me, it won’t be the last version of “Blue Christmas” you hear. We still have 11 days…

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Memo from the Boss: Give it up for the newest member of Lassen Sports Network.com team. You’ve met her before in previous posts, and yes indeed, she is my sister. As an introduction, just a couple of comments; She knows as much about college football as anyone I know. Her competitive nature is unmatched, but we both agree, we’re just talking sports, not curing cancer. And, she went from unpaid intern, to unpaid correspondent, all the way to unpaid columnist in a matter of 12 hours… As I’ve said in the past, we only hire the best free talent here at Blackwood Enterprises
Enjoy Column #1 from Bronco Babe.

I think we’d all agree that my brother needs help. Has to do with a slide (not 100 feet tall) and the state of Oregon. Interestingly enough, I’ll be moving to Oregon this summer; returning to the scene of the alleged crime. That, however, is a tale for another day. I’m here now, and you can look for me every week to lend him that much needed hand.

As some of you know, my on-line football buddies know me as BB, or Bronco Babe. I promise not to overwhelm you with my love of everything Boise State. Honestly, I do realize there are other teams, and  … Click the headline to continue reading this LSN Story

Don’t Need To Say a Whole Lot More…

But of course I will.
The below award was given to Don & Sharon McMullen at Wednesday night’s, (12/09), Lassen High School football awards banquet. The award was presented not just, in my opinion, for the incredible personal effort put forth by the two to insure the completion of the new press box at Arnold Field, but also for the years of steadfast dedication to Lassen High School
