Lassen High Soccer Ends Regular Season With Pair of Wins

The Lassen High School  boys and girls soccer teams wrapped up the regular season with a pair of wins over Central Valley, Thursday, (2/11) at Riverside Park in Susanville.

Girls Final
Lassen – 6
Central Valley – 0
Lassen’s Amanda Keeton and Autumn Norton each scored two goals.
Nikki Russ and Cassandra Turner also scored goals for the Lassen ladies.
Lassen finishes the regular season 9-1-1, 8-1-1 in the Northern Athletic League and now await the playoff seedings.

Boys Final
Lassen – 2
Central Valley – 1
The young Grizzlies wrap up the regular season 5-5-1, (5-4-1). The Lassen boys also await their playoff positioning.
The playoff seeding committee will meet, Saturday, February 13th.

Cougars Earn First GVC Win. Lady Cougars Fall

Lassen College played host to Shasta College in Golden Valley Conference basketball action, Wednesday night, (2/10) at the Lassen College Sports Complex.

Men’s Final
Lassen – 73
Shasta – 72
Overtime
Lassen won it’s first GVC game of the season behind 24 points from Zerrick Pryor. Isaac Flowers added 17 points.
Lassen is 1-1 since the return of head coach Mark Nareau.

Women’s Final
Shasta – 84
Lassen – 63
Devyn Courts
led the Lady Cougars with 23 points. Savannah Carlo added 19 points.
Both Lassen squads will have the weekend off before returning to action, Monday afternoon at home.
The Lassen ladies will face College of the Redwoods at 2:00 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 4:00 p.m.

Lady Grizzlies Win Thriller in “the Cave”

The Lassen High Lady Grizzly basketball team knocked off first place Corning High School in two overtimes, Tuesday (2/09) in Northern Athletic League action.

Final Score
Lassen – 66
Corning – 57
Lassen’s Carlotta Kloppenburg led all scorers with 31 points, including six 3-pointers. Sierra Hicks tied the score with an 8-footer as time expired in the first overtime.
Stay tuned for more details, including comments from head coach Paul Moore.
Both the Lassen jv and freshman ladies were also winners.

Lassen High Soccer Sweeps Anderson

The Lassen High boys and girls soccer teams traveled to Anderson for Northern Athletic League action, Tuesday, (2/09) and came home with a pair of victories.

Girls Final
Lassen – 3
Anderson – 0

Lassen’s Jordan Guess scored both goals.
Lassen will wrap up the regular season, Thursday, February 11th, against Central Valley. Both matches will be played at Riverside Park in Susanville.
Both Lassen teams appear headed for the playoffs.

Lassen College Hosts GVC Doubleheader

The Lassen College basketball teams hosted Butte College in a Golden Valley Conference doubleheader, Tuesday, (2/08) at the Lassen College Sports Complex. 

Women’s Final
Butte – 98
Lassen – 65
Lassen’s Savanna Carlo had a game high 32 points, Dani Case added 13 points. Lassen is now 1-5 in GVC play.

Men’s Final  
Butte – 76
Lassen – 67
Lassen held an 11 point lead at halftime but could not hold off a second half Roadrunner surge. The Cougars fall to 0-6 in conference play.
The game marked the return of Lassen head coach Mark Nareau, who completed a league sanctioned five game suspension.
Both Lassen teams will be back at home, Wednesday, February 10th, for GVC action against the Shasta College Knights. The Lady Cougars play at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Lassen men.

Lassen High School JV Wrestlers Compete in North Valley Championship Tournament

Here are the results for the Lassen JV wrestlers at the North Valley Championships, held at Orland High School this past Saturday, (2/06).
Individual Reasults
> 154 lbs. – Dustin Thiels – 5th
> 191 lbs. – Dominic Miller – 3rd
> Hwt. – Shayne Rutledge – 5th
Next up for the Lassen wrestlers is a make-up dual with West Valley, Wednesday, February 10th, (at West Valley).
Saturday, February 13th, will be the Northern Athletic League finals, at Anderson High School.

Diamond Mountain Casino is now offering poker tournaments on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. Tournaments are held in the Diamond Willow Room, located in the Casino.
The final table both days earn players points towards entry into the “Tournament of Champions” to be held in June, 2010.
Diamond Mountain Casino also offers Sit ‘n Go tournaments every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. These tournaments take place on the Lightning Poker Table. Sign ups begin at 5:30 p.m. with play beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Lassen High Soccer Teams Earn a Win and a Tie/Win (Updated)

The Lassen High School soccer teams each played pivotal Northern Athletic League matches, Thursday, (2/04) against West Valley High School at Riverside Park.

Girls Final
Lassen – 2
West Valley – 2
Autumn Norton
and Greta Porfiri each scored goals for Lassen.

The game today against West Valley was very intense. The girls came out with a victory and knocked West Valley out of the contention for league. As long as Lassen wins their final two games on Tuesday, (2/09) and Thursday,(2/11), the Lady Grizzlies will take the league championship.
The Score at the end of regulation was 2-2. Autumn Norton scored the first Lassen goal with Amanda Keeton assisting, with Greta Porfiri scoring the second.
Lassen was up the entire game until the last second when West Valley scored the tying goal.  The girls then went into penalty kicks and won 3-1.

Jordan Guess 
punched in four Grizzly goals, with Stephen Morris adding Lassen’s fifth score. The win keeps the young Lassen team’s playoff hopes alive, as Lassen head coach Dennis Michaels explains in his report.

It’s Finally Official, Lee Signs with Boise State University

Lassen High Schools all-everything football player, Darren Lee has officially signed to continue his academic and athletic career at Boise State University.
Lee helped lead the Grizzlies to the Division II North Section football title in 2009. The Lassen senior led the team with 141 total tackles and was also the teams leading rusher, gaining nearly 1400 yards.
Lee was named the Northern Athletic Leagues Defensive MVP and was named to the first team All-State football team as a linebacker.

In a signing day conversation on Boise’s KTIK radio, Boise State head coach, Chris Petersen, seemed genuinely enthused when he spoke of Lee’s signing.
