Herlong Picks Up First Pioneer League Win
The Herlong Viking basketball team continues to have one of it’s finest seasons in recent memory. Tuesday, (1/20), the Vikings crushed Providence Christian High School 51-15 to improve their season record to 9-7 (1-1 in the Pioneer League).
Herlong was led by Joe Johnson’s 12 points while Mike Evans added ten points. The Vikings waisted little time against Providence, building a 14-2 lead after the first quarter of play. The Vikings were never threatened after that. (Not much before that actually). Mitchell Tescher grabbed 13 rebounds for the Vikings. Jedd Hogan had ten boards.
It’s been a while since Herlong saw post season action but the Vikings are making a push to ensure that the playoffs will be calling in 2009.
Herlong resumes Pioneer League play, Friday, Jan. 23rd, at Downieville High School.
