Harsh Words Exchanged as Undermanned Lassen Falls to Chabot

The Lassen College Cougar basketball team showed up at Chabot College (Hayward, Ca.), Tuesday, (12/29) with just seven available players. By game time they were down to six, and at the conclusion of Lassen’s game with host Chabot, head coach Mark Nareau was barely able to put five players on the floor.
Final Score
Chabot – 102
Lassen – 51
Nareau said following the game that “his kids played hard the entire 40 minutes,” and that he was “proud of their effort.”
Lassen was limited to just the seven players due to scheduling and campus housing conflicts.
The game was delayed in the second half as Nareau and Chabot head coach, Denny Aye, reportedly engaged in a heated, verbal exchange on the sideline. According to one source at the scene, “without question,” Chabot was intentionally running up the score.
Lassen will play it’s final preseason game, Wednesday, December 30th, against Cabrillo College. The Cougars open Golden Valley Conference play, January 13th, at Shasta College.
