LASSEN COMMUNITY COLLEGE WELCOMES A NEW CLUB ON CAMPUS
“THE SPECIAL ATHLETES AND ACTIVITY CLUB”
The Special Athletes and Activity Club is a group of special needs students and other campus students that will serve as mentors for the special needs population.
The Special Athletes and Activity Club is committed to the equality of opportunity for all individuals with or without disabilities, who can benefit from physical and social activities. The club will promote physical, emotional, and social well-being in sport, recreational or social activities at their level of choice.
THE CLUB IS HAVING THEIR FIRST FUNDRAISER ON FRIDAY MAY 21, 2010 AT ROUND TABLE PIZZA BETWEEN 4PM-9PM COME AND SUPPORT THIS GROUP BY GETTING A PIZZA!
THE GROUP WILL ALSO BE HAVING A CAR WASH AT SUSANVILLE SUPERMARKET ON SATURDAY MAY 22, 2010 BETWEEN 10AM -2PM, SO IF YOU MISS OUT ON THE PIZZA COME GET YOUR CAR WASHED TO SUPPORT THE NEW CLUB AT LASSEN COMMUNITY COLLEGE!

Lassen Special Olympic Bowlers Travel to Vegas
Lassen Special Olympic Bowlers Mcreary Cowan, Jason Montpellier, Drew Soares, Darwin Hastings
February 19th and 20th the Lassen Special Olympics bowling team traveled to the National Unified Bowling Tournament in Las Vegas at the Cashman Center. The Lassen team competed against bowlers from all over the nation.
In their divisions Jason Montpellier (athlete), Mcreary Cowan (partner), Darwin Hastings (athlete) and Drew Soares (partner) came home with gold medals.
In the doubles competition the team of Jason and Mcreary came home with a 6th place, while Darwin and Drew came home with the silver.
Next year’s nationals will be held in Reno and Lassen Special Olympics hopes to be able to send more than one team. If you are interested in volunteering please give Sports Programmer Carrie Nyman a call at 530.257.6181 ext. 8980 or 249-5904.
Lassen Special Olympic’s Basketball Team will be at Bishop Manogue High School in Reno on March 14th for regional competition, games begin a 9:30am.
