Lassen Cougars Drop Tournament Final to Siskiyous

The Lassen College men’s basketball team brought home a second place finish from the annual Columbia Holiday Classic in Sonora, Ca.

Lassen was defeated handily by Golden Valley Conference foe,  College of the Siskiyous, 77-59. “Defensively, we did a pretty good job” said Lassen head coach Ben Riley, “but offensively, we stunk up the joint.” Lassen advanced to the finals with wins over Cabrillo and tournament host Columbia.

Despite dropping to 11-8 on the season, Riley was optimistic. “All of our problems tonight are correctable.” Said Riley, who was ejected from the game after picking up a second technical foul. “And they will be.” Riley stated emphatically.

The Cougars return home Wednesday, Jan. 7th, as part of a non-conference double- header with the Lassen College Lady Cougars. The action gets underway at 5:00 p.m. with the Lady Cougars hosting Sacramento City College. Following the first game the Cougars will take on an LCC alumni squad. All of the action takes place at the Lassen College Sports Complex.
